Roles here cover several areas
Smaller regional technology teams expect people to turn their hand to more than one thing, which the option model supports.
Alone among Qualifi's four IT awards at this level, this one lets you choose. Eight compulsory subjects form the spine; you pick two more at each stage, with one published restriction on which pairs you may combine.
Note: Duration will be based on your experience and it can be advanced bachelors too which differs from prospects to prospects
Choice is the whole point of this version. Qualifi runs four IT qualifications at Level 5, and three of them fix every subject in advance. This is the one that hands part of the decision to you — four compulsory subjects plus two of your choosing at the lower stage, then the same arrangement again at the upper stage.
The compulsory spine covers ground nobody in the field can skip. At the first stage: information technology and IT ethics, mathematics and statistics for IT, PC maintenance and operating systems, and computer graphics editing with database concepts. At the second: technopreneurship, network security, C#.NET programming, and system administration.
Your four choices come from eleven options spanning logical and physical networking, web programming, graphical user interfaces, Java for Android, routing and switching, network design, content management systems, web design, and business-to-business and business-to-consumer e-commerce. One rule applies, and Qualifi states it plainly. The award is catalogued as 610/3474/5 and carries 240 credits.
Two options at each stage, selected from eleven between them. No other Qualifi IT award at this level allows it.
Eight fixed subjects mean the breadth is guaranteed however you use your choices.
Network security sits in the required set, so nobody finishes without it.
Technopreneurship is compulsory too, connecting technical capability to starting something.
IT ethics appears in the very first compulsory subject rather than as an afterthought.
You can start without having chosen a specialism and let the options follow your interests.

Qualifi runs three specialist versions of this qualification — networking, web design and e-commerce — and it does not want people assembling one of those by stealth. So it forbids the exact option pairs that would add up to a specialist award. Everything else is open. If the combination you wanted turns out to be a forbidden one, that is a signal to enrol on the specialist qualification instead, where the whole programme is built around it.
It does, in the overview paragraph, while the specification field on the very same page says 240. We think the 120 figure is left over from the shorter, non-extended version and was never updated. The sister award in this family states 240 explicitly in its own text, which settles it for us. We have used 240 and told you about the inconsistency rather than quietly picking one.
Qualifi publishes nothing about changing selections, so the answer rests entirely with your centre and depends on timetabling, assessment deadlines and whether the teaching has begun. Ask before you enrol rather than after. It is also worth asking which options the centre actually runs, since offering all eleven requires teaching capacity that not every centre will have.
If you already know you want networking, web work or e-commerce, take the specialist award built for it — the whole programme points one way and no option decisions are needed. This general version suits someone still exploring, or someone whose work spans several areas and who wants the breadth plus a couple of deeper subjects on top.
Qualifi publishes no prior qualification requirement for this award. What it does set out is an age minimum of eighteen, English at IELTS 6 or an accepted equivalent for non-native speakers, and the usual pair of references with an academic one preferred. The centre then assesses whether you can handle the demands. Given that the compulsory set includes C#.NET programming and network security, some prior exposure will make the first term considerably easier.
Your approved centre, in both cases. The awarding body's role stops at writing the qualification, regulating it and issuing your certificate. It runs no classes, puts no calendar length on this award, publishes no notional hours figure for it, and prices none of its qualifications. Ask the centre for intake dates, expected length and a complete cost, including anything charged for software or examination.
