Programme Overview

About this Programme

Psychology attracts people long before it offers them a way in. Degrees want particular school subjects, courses want a full-time commitment, and anyone who finished school years ago often finds the door shut. This award leaves it open: no prior qualification is listed, and applicants with substantial experience but no certificates may be considered after interview.

What gets studied is proper academic psychology. The scope of the discipline, social and developmental psychology, biopsychology and the nervous system, how attachments form, how memory works, visual perception, pro-social and anti-social behaviour, approaches to depression and schizophrenia, the diversity of addiction, individual differences across intelligence, personality and criminology, research methods, and contemporary debates in the field.

Two published facts stand out. Qualifi describes the completed 240 credits as equivalent to a foundation degree and says it allows access to the final year at one of its university partners. And a learner who achieves at least 120 credits at Level 4 without finishing is awarded the Qualifi Level 4 Diploma in Psychology, number 610/2149/0.

A published fallback award

Stop at 120 Level 4 credits and you still leave with a named, numbered Qualifi diploma rather than nothing.

Why Gulf Learners Study Psychology This Way

01

Mental health provision is expanding

Gulf states have increased investment in mental health services, and understanding the discipline has broader workplace value.

02

No prior qualification demanded

Anyone whose schooling did not lead to psychology can still begin here, which is rare at this level.

03

Risk reduced by the fallback

Committing to 240 credits is easier when a partial finish still produces a recognised Level 4 award.

04

Useful well beyond clinical roles

HR, teaching, policing and social work all draw on the same understanding of behaviour and motivation.

05

Know what it is not

It does not make you a psychologist. Check your country's registration rules before planning a clinical career.

06

No published price

Centres across the region set their own fees. Ask for the full cost in writing before enrolling.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Will this make me a psychologist?

No, and anyone telling you otherwise is misleading you. Becoming a registered psychologist requires an accredited degree, postgraduate training and registration with the professional body that governs the title where you live. Qualifi publishes nothing about any of that for this award. What you get is regulated academic study of psychology at Level 5 — a legitimate foundation, and a genuinely different thing from a licence to practise.

What exactly is the fallback award?

Qualifi states that learners who do not complete the extended diploma but achieve a minimum of 120 credits at Level 4 will be awarded the Qualifi Level 4 Diploma in Psychology, qualification number 610/2149/0. In plain terms, if life interrupts halfway you are not left empty-handed. We have found this published on only one other Qualifi award, so treat it as a real advantage of choosing this one.

Qualifi says this equals a foundation degree. Is that official?

That is Qualifi's own description of the 240 credits, and we report it as such rather than as a ruling from a regulator. Credit equivalence and university admission are not the same thing. A university assessing your application makes its own judgement about what the award is worth to it. Useful context, then, but not a guarantee you should plan around.

Which university partners does it mention?

Qualifi refers to access to the final year at "one of our University partners" and does not name a single institution anywhere on its site. We are not going to guess. Treat the university route as something to investigate yourself: identify the universities you would want, contact their admissions teams, and ask directly what they make of a Qualifi Level 5 extended diploma.

Can I apply with no qualifications at all?

You may be considered. Qualifi states that in certain circumstances applicants with considerable experience but no formal qualifications may be accepted, subject to interview and to demonstrating they can cope with the demands of the programme. You must be 18 or over, and IELTS 6 or equivalent applies if English is not your first language. The interview decides, so prepare to talk about what you have done rather than what you hold.

Does it cover counselling or therapy?

Not as practice. The subject list is academic: memory, perception, attachment, biopsychology, social behaviour, individual differences. Depression, schizophrenia and addiction appear, but as psychological explanations to be understood rather than conditions you are trained to treat. Therapeutic practice requires separate, supervised clinical training that this qualification neither provides nor substitutes for.
