Programme Overview

About this Programme

Six subjects, and the ambition shows in their names: Strategy and Global Finance, Strategic Financial Management, Strategic Auditing, Ethical Behaviour and Corporate Governance, Corporate Reporting, and Financial Analyst. Half carry the word strategic. None of them teach bookkeeping, ledgers or tax computation. This is the finance of boardrooms, audit committees and published accounts.

Qualifi says the award is built for senior and middle managers and accountants moving up inside their organisations, and aims to produce an effective accounting and finance manager. That last phrase sets the target precisely. The reader it has in mind already understands the numbers and now needs to use them to argue, decide and answer for the result.

A small oddity worth flagging: the sixth subject is called Financial Analyst — a job title where every other entry names a subject. Qualifi publishes nothing about its content, and we will not guess. Its registered size is 120 credits at Level 7; the framework reference to quote is 603/0723/7.

Why Choose

Why Choose This Programme?

01

Finance with a global frame

Strategy and Global Finance treats capital, currency and markets as conditions you operate inside.

02

Auditing from the strategic end

Strategic Auditing looks at assurance as a governance instrument rather than a compliance chore.

03

Ethics and governance together

One subject covers ethical behaviour and corporate governance side by side, where they belong.

04

Corporate reporting

How an organisation tells its financial story publicly, and who holds it to account for that.

05

Strategic financial management

Investment, funding and value decisions taken at the level where they commit the business.

06

Pitched at people in post

Entry assumes a degree or Level 6 qualification, so the material starts where working finance staff already are.

An internationally recognised pathway awarded by Qualifi.

Governance expectations keep rising

Listed and family businesses alike face firmer governance and disclosure demands.

03

Reporting standards travel

Corporate reporting content speaks to the IFRS-based regimes used widely across the region.

04

Assurance beyond compliance

Strategic auditing suits internal audit functions being asked for judgement, not just ticks.

05

Delivered internationally

Qualifi qualifications are offered outside the UK through approved centres.

06

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it give exemptions from ACCA, CIMA or ICAEW examinations?

None are published, so you should plan on the basis that there are none. Qualifi's page lists no professional body relationship of any kind for this qualification — no accreditation, no approval, no exemption table. Professional bodies decide exemptions themselves, usually against a specific syllabus they have reviewed, and they publish their decisions. Send your intended body the subject list and the qualification number and ask directly. Anything a recruiter or centre tells you about exemptions should be checked against the body's own published position.

What is the Financial Analyst subject about?

We cannot tell you, and we would rather say so than invent a syllabus. It is the only entry in this listing named after a job rather than a field of study, and Qualifi publishes no description beneath the title. Reading the title alone, you might reasonably expect valuation, forecasting, modelling and the interpretation of financial statements, but that is inference rather than fact. The centre specification will carry the real content. Ask for that subject's descriptor specifically before you enrol, since it is the one with the least published detail.

How is this different from the Level 5 accounting and finance award?

Almost everything differs apart from the subject name. The Level 5 Extended Diploma is a 240-credit qualification with an open way in, built to take someone from the ground up through recording, reporting and basic analysis. This is half that size at 120 credits, requires a degree or Level 6 qualification before you start, and spends its time on strategy, assurance, governance and published reporting. One builds the foundation; this assumes you already have it and asks what you do with it.

Fees, start dates — where do those come from?

From the approved centre, every time. Qualifi's role is to write, regulate and certificate the qualification, not to teach it or price it. No study-hours total is published for this award, which means there is no official benchmark to judge whether a centre's proposed timetable is realistic. Before signing anything, ask for the cohort start and expected finish dates, the tuition fee, and whether registration and certification sit inside that figure or on top of it.

Is a first degree really essential?

It is one of only two published routes, the other being a Level 6 qualification, and nothing else is listed — no managerial experience option, no age minimum, no English language score, no references. That is a notably short entry statement compared with Qualifi's newer Level 7 awards, several of which publish an experience route. Centres can and do apply their own admissions checks beyond what the awarding body prints, so if your background is strong but unqualified on paper, take it up with the centre.

Will it help me move from accountant to finance manager?

That is precisely the transition Qualifi describes in its own aim for the award: to equip the learner to be an effective accounting and finance manager. The subject list supports that reading, since governance, strategic auditing and global finance strategy are management concerns rather than preparer concerns. What no one can promise is the promotion itself. Qualifi publishes no destination or employment data for this qualification, so treat the award as evidence of study at that level rather than as a guarantee of the next job title.
