Qualifi Level 7 Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism Management

Tourism appears in all four published subjects. Hospitality appears in two, and never by itself. The title gives both equal billing, the syllabus does not, and anyone choosing between awards deserves to know that first.

Programme Overview

About this Programme

Four subjects carry the whole award: Marketing Approaches in Hospitality and Tourism, Strategic Planning Facets in Hospitality and Tourism, Tourism Policy in International Context and Development, and The Culture and Society in Tourism. Two of them pair the sectors together. The other two are tourism alone — one on policy as it works across borders, one on how travel reshapes the places and people it touches.

Qualifi's own written summary adds very little. It runs to three sentences, two of which talk about business managers in general terms, and one of those has been mangled somewhere in editing to the point where quoting it would mislead rather than inform. The single clear statement left standing is that the award supports managers working in the tourism and hospitality industry, with a long view of their continued development.

Ofqual lists it at 120 credits, Level 7, under reference 603/2655/4, with no total qualification time attached.

Why Choose

Why Choose This Programme?

01

Tourism policy across borders

One subject looks at how tourism policy is set internationally and how destinations develop under it.

02

Culture and society

Another treats tourism as something that changes communities, not simply as a revenue stream.

03

Strategic planning, sector-specific

Planning is taught against hospitality and tourism conditions rather than as general management theory.

04

Marketing for the sector

Marketing approaches are framed around guests and travellers, where demand is seasonal and reputation travels fast.

05

A graduate-entry award

Entry assumes a degree or a Level 6 qualification already, so the starting point is a room of people with prior study behind them.

06

Offered beyond the UK

Qualifi states the qualification is available in the UK and internationally through its approved centres.

An internationally recognised pathway awarded by Qualifi.

Why This Resonates Across the Gulf Hospitality Sector

01

Tourism is national policy here

Gulf states publish tourism targets at government level, which makes the policy subject directly applicable.

02

Destination development is live work

New districts, museums and resorts are being planned now, not studied in retrospect.

03

Culture and visitors meet daily

The social dimension of tourism is a practical question across the region, not an academic one.

04

Seasonality shapes revenue

Marketing against sharp seasonal swings is routine for hotel and travel operators in the Gulf.

05

Delivered internationally

Approved centres offer Qualifi qualifications outside the UK as well as within it.

06

Price comes from the centre

The awarding body publishes no fee. Get a full written quotation before enrolling.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this really a hospitality qualification?

Partly. Look at the four subject titles and the balance is clear: tourism is named in all four, hospitality in two, and hospitality is never the sole focus of any subject. There is nothing on rooms division, food and beverage operations, hotel revenue systems or guest service management as standalone topics. If your work is hotel-side and you want depth in hotel operations, ask the centre for the subject descriptors before you commit. If your interest sits in travel, destinations and the policy around them, the weighting works in your favour.

Four subjects for 120 credits — is that normal?

It is the shortest list against that credit value in this whole listing; comparable 120-credit awards elsewhere here carry six to eight. There are two innocent explanations. The subjects may simply be unusually large, each worth 30 credits. Or the published web page may be summarising a longer list that appears in full in the centre specification. Qualifi does not publish per-subject credit values, so we cannot tell you which it is. We can tell you it is worth one email to the centre.

Does it make me eligible for a master's degree?

Not on its own, and not automatically. Qualifi's page carries exactly one progression line: "Dissertation to complete Master's Degree at UK University". No institution is named in it. No agreement, credit arrangement or entry condition is published behind it. A university receiving your application will make its own judgement about what the diploma is worth and what it still wants from you, and some will want considerably more than a dissertation. Treat the line as a statement of intent, confirm your own position with the university directly, and you will not be caught out.

Who sets the price and the timetable?

The approved centre, in both cases. Qualifi accredits and certificates the qualification; it does not teach, does not run cohorts and does not publish a price list. Because no total qualification time is published for this award either, there is no official study-hours figure to hold a proposed schedule against. Put three questions to the centre: when the next group starts, when you would realistically finish, and what the total charge covers once registration and certification are counted in. Two centres can then be compared honestly.

What is the difference from the Level 5 hospitality and tourism award?

Size, entry and altitude. At Level 5 the extended award in hospitality and tourism runs to 240 credits, lets people in without a prior qualification, and ranges widely over operational ground. This one is 120 credits, expects a degree or Level 6 qualification before you start, and spends half its subjects on policy and the social dimension of tourism rather than on running a unit day to day. The Level 5 award builds the base; this sits above it and is aimed at people who already have one.

How current is the published material?

The centre specification for this qualification carries a January 2021 date, and a separate course brochure linked from the page dates from 2019. We have not opened that brochure and make no claims about what is inside it. Tourism policy and destination development move with government strategy, so the sensible question for the centre is when the taught content was last refreshed — centres revise delivery between specification updates, and the answer tells you how engaged yours is.
