Programme Overview

About this Programme

Health economics is the discipline that turns medicine into decisions a budget can survive: cost-effectiveness, funding models, pricing, and what to cover when you cannot cover everything. This MBA pairs the Rushford management core with a specialisation built around exactly those questions, taught through case studies and simulated scenarios rather than pure theory.

The format works for people already inside healthcare, which most of the cohort will be. Courses run in three-week blocks in the evenings, assessments mirror the analyses health organisations actually commission, and the capstone can be built around a payer, a provider, or a policy question from your own context.

The certificate is issued by Rushford Business School, Switzerland. Where you aim it, payer, provider, or policy, is the interesting part.

Why Choose

Why Choose This Programme?

01

A rare credential, taught online

Health economics qualifications are scarce in the Gulf market. This one fits around a working week instead of demanding a relocation.

02

The payer side is expanding fast

The national mandate now covers private sector staff, and the pool of insured people keeps widening. Every policy needs economists behind it.

03

Cases and simulations, not abstractions

The specialisation runs on case studies and simulated scenarios drawn from the economic problems health organisations genuinely face.

04

The full Swiss award

The complete course load with capstone, 90 ECTS total, certificate issued by Rushford Business School, Switzerland.

05

Instalments in dirhams

Why GCC Students Choose This Programme

01

Study online, stay in post

No visa, no relocation, no career break. The specialisation arrives at your desk in the Gulf, evenings and weekends.

02

The insurance mandate changed the whole sector

Since January 2025, UAE employers must fund health insurance for private sector staff and domestic workers. Mandatory policies already make up over 86% of the market, and that machinery needs analysts.

03

The payer market is worth nine figures

The national mandate keeps widening the pool of insured people every year. Payers hire economists before they hire almost anyone else.

04

Cost-effectiveness is becoming a Gulf conversation

As health budgets grow, Gulf payers and ministries are importing the evaluation discipline that other markets already use. Early, trained arrivals set the terms.

05

Pharma and medtech need market access people

The official career paths include pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device companies, where pricing and reimbursement skills decide product launches.

06

The capstone can target your own organisation

Take the final project from a payer, hospital, or policy question you already live with, and finish with an analysis worth presenting.

07

Honest take

health economics rewards people who are comfortable with numbers. The statistics in this specialisation are practical rather than theoretical, but if spreadsheets genuinely distress you, a broader healthcare leadership MBA may sit more comfortably.
